All sounds in this pack were lovingly recorded from a vintage Yamaha RM1X Groovebox.
These are not new, modern sounds - the RM1X is from 1999!
There is a big difference in "vibe" when working with sounds that come from these older machines.
When you work with real old-skool gear, you get real old-skool character!
I recorded many of the sounds through the Enjoy Electronic "Godfather" audio processor, to add a touch of Saturation and Compression.
Those of you who watch my YouTube channel know that I like my beats pretty complex and sometimes glitchy. I've also included a special folder of lo-fi glitches that I made by recording the RM1X through the Meris Ottobit Jr. (Glitch/Stutter/Bit Crush pedal).
Many of the drum sounds have been designed by layering multiple samples together and processing them inside of the Play. I then rendered, exported and reproccessed them yet again - to create more modern sounding, unique and *thicker* drum sounds.
Many of the included synth sounds are really useful for making your own chord progressions with (if you can spare 3 or 4 of your tracks for chords…)
All vinyl crackles and pops are intententional and help with the "sampled from vintage records" feeling.
ALL sounds have been further processed in Ableton Live and finally, detail edited in Soundforge.
It's easy to get lost in the retro, hazy soundscapes that come out of this pack!
